Parasailing

In Peurto Vallarta, Mexico!

While in Peurto Vallarta, I went parasailing twice. The trips were amazing! It was my first time parasailing, and I'd have to say I loved it! I screamed all the way up on the first trip...but then I realized it was very peaceful in the air, and I stopped screaming. Don't get me wrong, the excitment level never dissipated through the trip though. The second trip, I just enjoyed the view & relaxed a lot more. It's so cheap in Mexico, that's why I went twice!
In my first trip, I took my camera with me in the air. It worked for me, and many others, so if you feel you have a reliable camera strap & a sturdy hand, take yours too! Here's the pictures from that trip:
This was one of my first images from a parachute!
I went snorkeling around this island a couple of days later. I'd have to say that the view from the air is better than from snorkeling. This depends

on the time of year you go though. If you go in early spring, don't plan on great diving, the water is pretty gross!

I went parasailing twice. This landing is from my second trip.

Tips on Parasailing in Peurto Vallarta, Mexico
SAFETY: I am not trying to tell you that parasailing is 100% safe. I did not see anyone have problems, nor did I hear horror stories, but as with all air sports, use caution, and access your our risk!TRIP LENGTH: The further out of the city you go, the cheaper it is and the longer the trip is.BARGAIN PRICES? Don't expect to bargain with the parasailers, the people that run the show have hand signals that they use with the boat driver to tell them to give a shorter trip.PRICE: I went in March 2000 and paid $35 for my first trip, and $30 for the second. The first trip was approximately 5 minutes, the second was more like 15 minutes, but the view on the first trip was much better than on the second. It all depends on what you want. People were paying $40 in the city for about 5 minutes.PAYMENT TYPE: This is not the US. You cannot pay in Traveler's Checks or Credit Cards, etc.. You need cold cash. I recommend paying with US dollars since they give you a better deal.WHERE: They often move from one place to another, so don't expect them to be at the same place twice. In town, you can parasail off the main drag, or even in front of some hotels on certain days. Out of town, I went to Mismaloya (great day trip, 20 minutes south of town, great beach) for the first trip. My second experience was from a secluded beach that Princesa Cruises took us to. This was the best price.
