Places to Go...

Domestic:

Washington DC:
  • Kramerbooks & Afterwords
  • one of my favorite hang outs in DC-just to marvel at the books, or to marvel at the desserts! My favorite: the city pie, with a live Jazzy pianist playing in the background.

  • The Freer and Sackler Galleries
  • I love asian art...if you do too, this place would be heaven for you! I especially enjoyed the visiting exhibit, Bridge: Illusion in Clay by Ah-Leon.

  • Cafe Berlin
  • the best German Restaurant in DC! (yummy!)

    Memphis Tennessee:

  • The North End
  • the best place for some cool music, and some awesome wild rice (gee, I know it sounds odd, wild rice?...but trust me!) Plus! The guy Sid Selvidge that they write about? I was next door neighbors to his mother when I lived in Memphis...he's awesome!

  • Beale Street
  • Living in Memphis for a number of years gave me the chance to enjoy real blues & jazz. One of my favorites, which is relatively new: BB King's Blues Club

    The Great Smoky Mountains:

    Peurto Vallarta, Mexico

I visited Peurto Vallarta in March 2000. My family & I stayed at an amazing resort called Velas Vallarta. I would recommend the resort to anyone!

While we were there, we went on an especially cool cruise with Princesa Cruises. The cruise first took us to a couple islands for some snorkeling, then to a small town where we rented horses for a couple bucks & rode to a waterfall (see picture above), next we went to a seculded beach just to soak up the rays, and finally they threw a mini party for those interested (small kids & parents seemed to dig that)...oh, yeah, and there was free booze all day.

The most exciting thing I did in Peurto Vallarta would have to be parasailing!! I went twice! Be sure to follow the link to see pictures.

    GERMANY:

I found this great web page on Hechingen, my exchange sister Silke's hometown.
Of course I love Berlin & Munich too, but that's why I dedicated an entire page to Germany!
